Hi Reader,
Hope you are well.
“You are a yoga teacher, you must be so relaxed all the time!”
Really? I don’t think so.
I get stressed about deadlines. About whether my blog posts are good enough. Whether others write better. Whether my voice sounds boring. Thoughts after thoughts after thoughts. And then the mind does what minds do — it goes looking for evidence. Do you remember when someone said they didn’t like your class? When someone said your post was boring? It finds every single example and lines them up.
Everyone has those thoughts. The difference — maybe — is that I notice them a little earlier now. And I consciously decide not to follow them down certain rabbit holes.
Though I should say — I have been down every rabbit hole there is. Multiple times. Until I learned how much they drain you. How they make you feel weary and small.
Do you know what I am talking about?
There is a kind of tiredness that has nothing to do with how much you slept. It sits underneath the day. A low hum of am I good enough, what will they think, why can’t I just get on with it. You keep going — of course you do. But the going costs more than it should.
This week I wrote about where that tiredness actually comes from. And why it is not a flaw, not a failure, and not something you need to push through harder.
It is one of the most personal things I have written. I think you might recognise yourself in it.

One Small Thing This Week
Last week's post on incompatible food raised some questions — one was around melons. And what a great question as melons have a special place in Ayurveda.
They are one of summer’s quiet gifts. Cooling, hydrating, calming to an overheated system — they pacify pitta, which means they work directly on excess heat, irritability, and that particular kind of exhaustion that builds in warm weather. Ayurveda holds them in high regard this time of year.
But they ask one thing of us: to be eaten alone. Not mixed with other fruits, and for sure not combined with dairy. When melon meets other foods in digestion, it ferments rather than digests, and what felt like a light, refreshing meal can leave you feeling heavier than expected.
So enjoy melon this summer — generously, and on its own. A bowl at mid morning. Simple, and genuinely cooling.
🌿 Pause & Reflect
Think of something you’ve wanted to do — or keep wanting to do. Something that hasn’t happened yet, not because life got in the way, but because the thoughts got there first.
Notice what your loop sounds like. Is it not good enough yet? Not ready? What will they think?
You don’t need to untangle it this week. Just notice which rabbit hole you visit most often — and how much of your energy it quietly takes.
And before we finish:
Something is taking shape for the end of this month. Simple recipes, landing quietly in your inbox — cooking as a way back to yourself when the day has cost too much. I’ll tell you more soon.
