Hi Reader,
Hope you are well.
Earlier this week, I found myself thinking about how often we wait.
We wait until work feels quieter.
Until the holiday is over.
Until the house is tidy.
Until Monday.
Until we feel ready.
Over the past couple of weeks, my own rhythm has looked very different. There was a busy week of teaching, a family celebration, a long drive to Germany, and a few days where rest was exactly what I needed.
For a moment, it would have been easy to think, "I'll get back to everything once life settles down." But then I realised something.
Life doesn't wait.
The seasons keep changing. The days keep moving. Nature continues to adapt to whatever arrives next.
Perhaps that's the invitation for us as well.
Not to recreate the perfect routine wherever we are. But to ask a different question.
When life looks different, what do I want to keep?
Perhaps it's sitting down to eat instead of rushing through lunch.
Perhaps it's one nourishing meal you know you'll enjoy.
Perhaps it's ten minutes on the yoga mat.
Perhaps it's simply taking a slow breath before the next part of the day begins.
The details will change from week to week.
The rhythm doesn't have to.
Every time we return, however imperfectly, we strengthen something much more valuable than a routine.
We strengthen the trust that, whatever this season of life brings, we know how to find our way back.
This might be for you
As I was writing this, I realised that's exactly why I created Cook to Feel Steady.
Not for the perfect week.
Not for the week when the diary is empty and everything goes according to plan.
But for weeks like these.
Weeks when routines change.
When the children are home.
When you're travelling.
When you're working around other people's schedules.
Because what carries us through those weeks isn't a perfect meal plan. It's having a handful of nourishing meals you know and trust. Meals you know how to cook without thinking too hard. Meals that help you feel like yourself again.
Something simple you can come back to, whatever life looks like.
That's what we'll build together over five days.

This week's blog post/podcast
Without healthy roots, there can be no growth.
That's the simple image at the heart of the Mooladhara, or Root Chakra.
In this week's new blog and podcast, I explore the traditional teaching behind the root chakra and why it has far more to do with everyday life than many of us realise.
Food. Sleep. Belonging. Stability. Daily rhythm.
These aren't separate from yoga. They are the foundation from which everything else can grow.
If you've ever wondered what the root chakra really represents—or if you've only ever heard it described as "blocked" or "unblocked"—I hope this offers a different perspective.

From my Practice this Week...
This week's practice is Tree Pose.
Before you think about balancing on one leg, notice your standing foot.
Can you root down before you reach up?
It's a simple reminder that stability begins with a strong foundation—not only in yoga, but in everyday life.
If you'd like to explore the pose in more detail, you'll find my step-by-step guide to Tree Pose here.
From my Kitchen this Week...
With lots of travelling recently, I've found myself returning to one of my favourite simple meals: dal with seasonal vegetables and rice.
In fact, I cooked it again today.
After days that feel a little different, there's something comforting about making a meal you know will nourish you without asking too much of your digestion.
It reminded me that steadiness isn't about eating perfectly. Sometimes it's simply returning to the meals we know we can trust.
🌿 Pause & Reflect
The Root Chakra reminds us that every tree needs strong roots before it can grow.
What are the roots in your own life?
What helps you feel steady, supported and at home in yourself?
