Hi Reader,

How has your week been? I still feel slightly as though I’m running behind.

There are quite a few things going on at the moment, and many of them seem completely unrelated. I’ve been working on the website, getting ready for Back to Rhythm, creating content, sorting out some practical things for my classes and, this week, starting to hand some of my work over to someone else.

Individually, they are all quite small things. Together, they can feel like a lot of different threads to hold.

But I’ve noticed that I’m becoming more comfortable doing things before I know whether they are going to work.

Bringing someone in to help me with some of my weekly work is a good example. It costs money before I can see what that extra time and capacity might create. Back to Rhythm feels similar. I’m approaching offering it differently this time, and I won't know the result until I get there.

There are quite a few things like that at the moment.

I know why I’m doing them. I can see where I want them to lead. And I’m becoming more willing to give them enough time to see what happens.

Perhaps that is part of finding your rhythm too.

You begin putting things in place. You repeat them. You adjust as you go. And gradually, you find out what they make possible.

This Week's Blog Post/Podcast

This week I expanded into a different rhythm. After digestion, this seems to be the next one that shows us when things have gone a little off piste: our hormonal cycle.

And here's a question I want to ask you. This extends beyond menstruation into perimenopause and menopause too:

What if your period could tell you something about the month you’ve just lived?

Ayurveda doesn’t look at those few days in isolation. The way you’ve been eating, sleeping, working, rushing, resting and responding to stress throughout the month can all become part of the picture.

Pain, irregularity, heat, heaviness — even the days when everything feels relatively straightforward — can give you something to notice.

And Ayurveda gives the first three days of menstruation their own rhythm too: a time to reduce, release and allow what can wait to wait.

In this week’s article, I’m exploring what Vata, Pitta and Kapha may reveal through your cycle, why the traditional Ayurvedic approach placed so much emphasis on rest, and how you can create your own realistic monthly ‘Sacred Pause’.

From my Practice this Week...

Although, I don't recommend them during menstruation :)

This week I came again and again back to inversions.

There is something about turning upside down, staying there and allowing the body to settle that I find incredibly calming.

And, like with everything in life, familiarity matters. The more often you practise them, the easier it becomes to find your position, organise the support and stay without constantly wondering what needs adjusting.

Shoulder stand is one of the most accessible and supported inversions. If that's part of your practice — or you'd like to explore it — I have a post here showing you how I practise and teach it.

From my Kitchen this Week...

My favourite combination this week was very simple: steamed broccoli, green beans and mangetout, with pearl barley and finished with a tahini dressing.

It was one of those meals that hit exactly the right spot — satisfying and light at the same time.

Pearl barley gives it a little more substance (excellent for easing summer heat), while the green vegetables keep it fresh. And the tahini dressing turns this bowl into something I genuinely look forward to eating.

Sometimes the combinations you make without much thought are the ones worth remembering.

Glimpse into Sacred Pause

Space before clarity. Perhaps the idea that sometimes we need to get far enough away from the day-to-day busyness to hear what has been forming underneath it.

When was the last time you gave yourself enough space to hear it?

This Week in Back to Rhythm

On Tuesday, Sept 15th, 8 pm, I'm holding a live Q&A.

If you’ve been wondering what Back to Rhythm involves, whether it would work with your life, or what we would actually work on together over the 12 weeks, come and ask me.

I’ll talk you through the programme, how we work with daily and seasonal rhythm, and what you can expect over the 12 weeks. And there will be plenty of time for your questions.

🌿 Pause & Reflect

What are you doing at the moment that needs more time before you can see where it leads?
